From Manazuru Station to Kifune Shrine

The Manazuru town located in the western part of Kanagawa is a treasure house of nature among the rich forest and seas, and the leading Manazuru peninsula is the place where seasonal nature is felt close. I took a walk through Manazuru Peninsula this time. I left JR Manazuru Station and had a sightseeing map at a tourist information center in the right, and left. Because there was "Arai-joshi park" (ruins of a castle park) near a station when I watched a sightseeing map, I decided to drop in. I went ahead through the way of the right mountain direction that was divided into "bus route toward the shore" and "the way to mountain direction" when I crossed the signal of the station square. A beacon of "Arai-joshi park" is on the right side when I go for a while, and an uphill stone stairway continues. The Arai Castle is said to be a castle of Sanetsugu Arai which played an active part in the subordinates of Yoshiie Minamotono in Gosannen War (the Later Three Years' War) of 1063. It is a quiet place among bamboo forest and is the famous place where a drooping cherry tree is in full glory in spring, and "the party of the drooping cherry tree" is held here.
I took a walk through the park and came in bus route when I went down the way. A restaurant handling sea foods and a sushi shop, building stones shops ( because Manazuru is a production center of the exquisite stone "Komatsu-stone") form a line in the bus route on the way in a gentle downhill path towards the sea. The place where I went down the slope is Manazuru port. The ship to carry a stone cut and brought down anchors in the port other than a fishing boat and it is different from the common port in a feeling and sees it.
The famous place called "the cave of Shitodo (bunting)" is on the right side along the way when I turn to the left at the way in form over a port. When Yoritomo Minamoto lost for a fight of the Mt. Ishibashi, this cave is the place where he hid in. This cave seemed to ever have size more than 2m in height, 10m in depth, and a wave seemed to lap on here. There is the big building which was written as "Skana-za" in front when I pass here. The first floor is Manazuru fish market, and the second floor becomes the dining room serving fresh fish and shellfish here.
Furthermore, there is the Kifune shrine which is famous for "Kifune Festival" which is appointed in the important formlessness folk cultural assets of the country when I go ahead through the way. This festival is held every year in the end of July and is a classic festival that "a small, fast ship" decorated with too many things luxuriously is accompanied by "a Mikoshi ship" and "a Hayashi ship" and crosses the sea. There is the shrine in the place where I climbed the stone stairway of a hard incline, and white shrine is impressive.

From the promenade of the shoreline to a picturesque scenery "Mitsu-ishi(three stone)"

Because the promenade which can walk the shoreline from the area that passed Kifune Shrine was made, I deviated from the bus route and walked the promenade. In the promenade, a Komatsu-stone surrounds the mountain side, and, as for the sea side, a rocky place ranges and lasts approximately 500m to "Kotogahama beach". There are a person who enter the sea and takes fish and shrimp or tourists taking a photograph in a rocky place and is a place to be able to enjoy in families.
The bus route is finally in the mountain path when I pass here. Mountain path is the forest where the big trees of several thousand years old towers over both sides. The way is divided into the two groups when I go ahead through the slope which wound, and I aimed at Mitsu-ishi areas. I arrived at "Cape Manazuru" from Kotogahama beach in around 30 minutes. "Cape Manazuru" is rest facilities, and a tea room and a souvenir store are on the first floor, and the second floor has Endo shell museum (pay). I arrive at the shore with picturesque scenery "Mitsu-ishi" when I go down along the shore from this rest facilities. Mitsu-ishi is the picturesque scenery where three rocks affect, and is a famous place of the first sunrise of a new year.

To Nakagawa Kazumasa Art Museum

I walked the coastal promenade from the Mitsu-ishi Coast and, Banbaura Coast of the first sunrise of a new year photography spot, went to Nakagawa Kazumasa Art Museum from the forest promenade. It was the distance of approximately 30 minutes. Because Kazumasa Nakagawa was a man of influence of Japanese Western painting circles presented with the Order of Culture, and his atelier was in Manazuru, so Manazuru town invited an art museum in this ground. In the museum, a work such as the still-life picture of a rose or the sunflower, and landscape of Hakone or Manazuru, or calligraphy and the ceramic art is displayed. There is "Ohayashi prospects park golf course" in the neighbor of the museum and is the place that can enjoy barbecue and park golf. Because there is a bus stop near, the return from here should use a bus to Manazuru Station. But there is only one bus every hour, so I recommend having a timetable at a tourist information center.
