I took a walk through around station of the Oiso town of scenic beauty which was said to be "The birthplace of Shonan" this time.
JR Tokaido Line, Oiso Station that the walk started from is a station chosen as 100 selections of Kanto stations (100 unusual railroad stations of the Kanto district chosen as part of a commemorative event on "the day of the railroad" of Japan) in 2000, and the station building of the triangle roof is a station letting a country color feel. As there is a tourist information center at 100 selections of Kanto station squares, I have a walk map and leave it.
Firstly I aimed at the great writer of the Showa, Toson Shimazaki's house leaving many masterpieces including the "Yoake-mae (Before the Dawn) ", "Hakai (The Broken Commandment)" I left Oiso Station and went ahead through the path along the track towards the west. There is a mark when I walk for approximately ten minutes, and there is the plain house among cleaved bamboo fences as soon as I turn left at there. There is Toson's house, and Oiso-machi manages it. We can observe there freely. There is the private house of the old one-story house facing the small garden when I go along the simple Kaburagi gate of the entrance. There is there when it becomes Toson's final abode. We cannot enter the room, but can observe it from a garden. I enter at the gate, and there are 4.5 quires of studies immediately, and there is a Japanese-style room of 6 tatami the north side, and there is a living room of 8 tatami with the room inside an open veranda among glass doors southeast 2 on the east side, and it is a layout considered that sea breeze comfortable in the summer enters. The words of last moments of Toson seemed to be "it seemed to be cool wind", and can ask about the coziness of this residence. At this residence, he spent two and a half years before passing away at 71 years old on August 21, 1943 from February 25, 1941.
When I leave Toson's house and I pass through the path and advance to the east across Route 1, there is "Shigitatsu-an" which is famous for a 31-syllable Japanese poem of Saigyo Hoshi (Buddhist priest Saigyo). There is Shigitatsu-an in the place where it went down the stone stairway from the sidewalk along Route 1 to the right, and a small stone bridge appears there. This place is called Shigitatsu-sawa swamp, and we have a feeling of deep mountains and dark valleys for the scenery to watch from a stone bridge. There is the gate nestling quietly over there of the bridge, and the building of the roof of thatch in the garden is Shigitatsu-an. In the garden, Hoko-do, Eni-do, a temple such as Kannon-do are built, and the persons (wooden construction of Kamakura era, Tora-gozen of the harlot appearing in Azuma Kagami and Saigyo Hoshi) with the relation is laid in state on this ground in the temple. In addition, more than 80 monuments or monuments inscribed with a tanka poem were built, but came to call this ground with "Shonan" because it was ticked away with "A place that is clean but refreshing and unrivaled, Shonan is a wonderful place" by the other side of the monument of "Shigitatsu-sawa" of the inside, and around Oiso resembled the southern part of Xiang River flowing near the Lake sinus garden of China Hunan closely. Called "Shonan birthplace in Oiso" is said that the opinion was created from the letter of seven ticked away by this monument.
I leave Shigitatsu-an, and there is "an Oiso-Inoue Kamaboko shop" founded in 1878 when I go ahead through along Route 1 to the east. "The kamaboko, hanpen, Satsumaage" here are exquisite. And it is nearby, and there is Japanese confectionery shop "Shinkinedo" which was loved to Toson Shimazaki and Shigeru Yoshida having been continued since 1891. As all are famous in Oiso, it is most suitable for a souvenir.
I go to Oiso Station if I buy a souvenir. There is the monument of "the place of end of Jo Niijima" who was the Doshisha University founder for the middle. It is said that Jo Niijima closed a 47-year-old life in one room of inn "Mukade-ya" which there was in the place where this monument is built. In addition, there is the monument that Oiso Terugasaki Coast was established as a first Japanese beach by first surgeon general, Jun Matsumoto. It is good to watch scenery as it is around five minutes to the sea.
In addition, on the way to the station, there is the Jifuku-ji temple with the grave of the Toson Shimazaki couple, and the gravestone which Dr. Yoshiro Taniguchi of the architect designed is built in the precincts among old trees of the plum.
In addition, there are "Sawada Miki memorial " who devoted passion to child of mixed racial origins education and the Oiso guesthouse which is historic cultural assets architecture of the Taisho era and its garden of the rose is pure in front of the station, but I want to observe them at the next opportunity because these facilities are close because of redecorating and the closure.
